Honolulu Airport Jeep Rental Map
Honolulu International Airport (HNL) is on “island time” and for a good experience, you’ll want to dial it down a notch when you arrive in the islands. The airport is open-air. Translated, that means there’s no air conditioning. As you deplane, let the warmth, humidity and gentle breezes flow over you. Take a deep breath to smell the island flowers blooming around you. Don’t try to be the first sweaty customer to pick up your luggage and Jeep. Hopefully, you’ve packed some light clothing and flip flops in your carry-on that can be changed in one of the restrooms. Walk slowly and take in the differences of this airport. It’s really quite delightful.
HNL is simple to navigate. There are separate floors for inter-island and overseas arrivals and departures. Baggage claim and all ground transportation is on the first floor.
Once you’ve retrieved your luggage at baggage claim, it’s time to hit the road. You’ll find Advantage, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz and National counters right in baggage claim.
Wikiwiki buses pass by outside the carousels about every 10-15 minutes to take passengers to the following off-airport rental companies: A-1, Alamo, Dollar, J R Car & Truck and Thrifty. Enjoy-people watching while you wait.
Once you’re in your Jeep, Honolulu is a 6 mile drive from the airport and Waikiki Beach is 10 miles away. Across the island to the north, Haleiwa is 27 miles away.
